TICONDEROGA | As larger and more northern communities have cashed in on the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative, Ticonderoga has watched from the sidelines — but a group of local leaders believes this could be the year all that changes.
The DRI, a $10 million bonanza designed to dramatically change the fortunes of New York towns where progress and economic development has stalled, or full potential has not been realized. In the North Country, maps show that communities including Plattsburgh, Watertown, Saranac Lake and Potsdam have all won, forming an arc across the top of the state.
