On June 7, 2025, the Essex County Land Bank, in partnership with the North Country Rural Development Coalition (NRDC) and the Town of Ticonderoga, launched the first-ever Walls Between Waters Mural Festival — a creative placemaking initiative designed to:

  • Remediate blight
  • Encourage reinvestment in vacant and underutilized spaces
  • Support the creation of new housing opportunities
  • Use public art to attract new residents and businesses across Essex County

In 2026, 3 large-scale murals were installed throughout downtown Ticonderoga, and 1 in Jay, adding to the previous 6, transforming transitional properties into vibrant public art landmarks. The effort increased foot traffic, engaged the community, and helped stabilize key sites.
