NRDC is coordinating another round of seasonal window painting for downtown Ticonderoga businesses this autumn.

Over the past year, we have offered seasonal window painting in the fall, winter, and spring/summer as a fun part of our broader arts, beautification, and creative placemaking work. NRDC already uses public art, murals, storefront activation, and other creative projects as part of our downtown revitalization efforts. 

In previous rounds, a small grant covered 75% of the cost of the artwork, and NRDC donated the remaining 25%. That grant has now ended, but we would still like to keep the program going and make it easy for businesses to participate.

For this autumn round, businesses can sign up for a new seasonal window painting, request removal of an existing summer painting, or both. New businesses are welcome too!

For reference, a small design is similar in scale to the current JP Waste window, while a large design is more like the larger artwork at Punky Noodles/Katie Andersen’s windows.

Filomena Jack will be arriving late Wednesday, August 19, so we need final confirmations by 5:00 PM this Sunday, August 16.

The form also lets you share autumn inspiration for the artist and tell us if you may be interested in a winter/holiday painting. We’ll reach out again in November to businesses interested in the winter round.

A gentle reminder that communication is key. Once you sign up, please keep an eye out for follow-up from NRDC regarding window size, payment, scheduling, and access.

NRDC is continuing to coordinate the artists, logistics, scheduling, and promotion of this effort, so we also ask participating businesses to tag or credit North Country Rural Development Coalition when sharing their finished artwork. Appropriate credit helps show the community the partnerships behind these downtown beautification efforts.

This is a completely optional arts and beautification opportunity that NRDC offers simply because we want to support local artists and help make downtown fun, welcoming, and vibrant. Businesses are always welcome to participate, opt out, or work directly with an artist on their own.
